We’d like to get to know you!
Our Mission
The Beavercreek Chess Club aims to foster critical thinking, strategic planning, and sportsmanship among Beavercreek youth through chess.
Our Members
We had 40 active club members in elementary and middle school in 2023-24 who attended our weekly meetings. They ranged from those who have never played chess all the way to competitive, rated players. We look forward to seeing what the 2024-25 year brings!
2023-2024 School Year
OVERVIEW
This was our inaugural year, beginning in November of 2023.
The students gained a lot of chess knowledge each week through instruction and gameplay. They also enjoyed monthly quads tournaments.
FUNDRAISER TOURNAMENT
In March 2024, the club held its first fundraiser tournament. 44 students from 12 schools participated in 3 rounds of intense chess in 3 divisions. Most were competing in their first-ever tournament and we are so proud of them!
Congrats to the following students for placing:
Grades 1-3 = Lucas Foster and Jared Gravitt (Tied for 1st), Asher Featherstone (3rd)
Grades 4-5 = Rafael Jaramillo and Carter Calton (Tied for 1st), Kat Jackson and Robert Steele (Tied for 3rd)
